Oh, good. For a second there I thought I’d annoyed you.

I’m not rude, I swear, this is just… how I am. Pre-warning.

Roberta, I’m, uh, volunteering.

Nah, takes a lot to annoy me.

Volunteering? You’re spending time with us by choice? Really?

That’s the same voice my mother used when she found out I wanted to train as a vicar.

(slightly deeper voice)

You wanna be a VICAR?
Well, you know, if she’d paid attention.

Yeah. I mean, I help out various places. Before I do my new course I thought I’d use my last few months as a vicar to give back to somewhere I could have easily ended up in.

That isn’t creepy.

I don’t have the privilege of being able to announce my presence. So I just sort of linger.

Still kinda creepy. i knew you would fit in just fine.

Avoidant PD/creepy: same thing? Discuss.
As I said, I almost was a patient.

Sorry.

I’m joking. It was a joke. -laughs-

Anyway, I’m Faye.

Well, I suppose I only know in my context. I’m sorry. One day it’ll start to improve, I hope.

She wrote. ‘Hope is sometimes you the only thing any of us can do. But at the moment, it doesn’t look I’m getting any better.’

Really? Do you have the right medication? And someone to talk to, to talk about issues and beat them? Because that’s so important. I’ll probably take Prozac for the rest of my life, and Ross is so vital, because he’s not judgemental at all. I mean, it doesn’t has to be a doctor- I have a counsellor. I wouldn’t have improved if those things weren’t in place. It’s so important to get the right stuff that works for you, so that you can find coping mechanisms and things.

Sophie smiled. ‘I guess you have a good point. Thank you for telling me.’

(smiles back)

And nobody will mind here, anyway. And save some cake for me. I don’t have anything else to bring. Except the dogs, but I don’t think you’re allowed animals in here.

Sophie smiled. And wrote. ‘You have a very cute family. Your lucky.’  Her mind flashing back to her family briefly. Her eyes pained.

(touches arm)

I’m sorry. I’m awkward like that. It took a long time to get here, and I suppose I show it off a bit. Oh god, sorry.

Sophie wrote. ‘No. Don’t worry. If you have a good family you should show it off.’ she smiled up at the woman,

She smiled. Oh, okay. I’m shocked I have any of it, I think that’s why I do it.

She wrote. ‘Never be shocked at the fact you have good family. Only be shocked if you have a fucked up one.’

Well, I just thought I was too weird to work with, I thought I’d just be alone. Fucked up and alone. Invisible. Well, I just thought I’d jump out a window or something in the end.

Sophie wrote. ‘I’m glad you have a good family, and that you didn’t jump out a window. Though, your not too fucked up. Compared to me.’

Well, I suppose I only know in my context. I’m sorry. One day it’ll start to improve, I hope.
